Today, we're excited to shine the spotlight on two of our incredible team members: Alexis Salyer and Mary Miller.
These two women exemplify the heart and soul of DoGoodies, showcasing the hard work, passion, and camaraderie that define our workplace. From mastering the art of caramel-making to forging lasting friendships, Alexis and Mary each bring a special spark to the company, and we’re thrilled to share their stories with you.
Alexis Salyer: From Volunteer to Production Pro
Alexis Salyer has been a valued member of the DoGoodies team for three years, but her journey with the company began long before she became an official employee. For several years, Alexis volunteered at DoGoodies through Opportunity Enterprises, and it was during this time that she discovered her love for the production side of our business.
Alesix shared that she used to volunteer here before being hired, and she really enjoyed it. The previous operations director told her that she’d be good at the job and encouraged her to apply, inspiring her to apply. Alexis’s transition from volunteer to full-time production crew member has been a smooth one, and she’s now an integral part of the team.
One of Alexis’s favorite parts of her job is making caramel. “Making caramel used to be the hardest thing for me when I first started,” she says. “But I’ve pretty much become the master now. It was a little tricky at first, but now it’s easy-peasy.” Alexis’s journey from nervous newcomer to caramel expert is a perfect example of how DoGoodies fosters growth and development in a supportive environment.
Alexis loves the variety of people she gets to work with at DoGoodies, especially her coworkers from Opportunity Enterprises. “I really enjoy working with everyone here, especially Mary and Lynise. We laugh a lot and have so much fun together,” Alexis shares. The lighthearted atmosphere at DoGoodies is one of the things that Alexis treasures most. It’s not just about creating delicious treats; it’s about building meaningful relationships and having fun while doing it.
Another highlight of Alexis’s experience at DoGoodies is working with her supervisor, MaryAnn. “MaryAnn is so funny. She makes me laugh all the time,” Alexis says, her smile evident as she talks about her favorite part of the job.
Alexis’s first day at DoGoodies was filled with learning and growth. One of her initial challenges was getting the hang of the heat-sealer, a machine used to seal bags of popcorn. But fast forward to today, and she’s mastered it.

Mary Miller: A True DoGoodies Veteran
Mary Miller is another beloved member of the DoGoodies family. With nine years of experience at the company, Mary has seen it all, and her journey at DoGoodies has been a rewarding one. Mary originally started as a client of Opportunity Enterprises, but when clients were transitioned to employees three years ago, Mary became an official member of the DoGoodies team.
Mary shared that Do Goodies is her first job, and she’s made a lot of friends, both inside and outside of my department. Mary’s positive attitude and her ability to build strong relationships with her coworkers have made her an invaluable member of the team.
Like Alexis, Mary’s favorite part of working at DoGoodies is making caramel, but she also loves interacting with customers at the DoGoodies factory store. She looks forward to chatting with them and making them feel welcome in the company’s store. Mary’s ability to connect with others is just one of the many reasons she’s so well-loved by both her coworkers and the customers she serves.
Mary’s nickname at work is “Mary Lou,” given to her by her supervisors, MaryAnn and Sarah. “I love when they call me Mary Lou,” Mary says with a laugh.
Mary’s favorite DoGoodies treat is our Sea Salt Dark Chocolate popcorn - and it’s her dad’s favorite, too!

Both Alexis and Mary are prime examples of the values that make DoGoodies such a special place to work.
